 In Telangana there are nine state universities, two deemed universities, three central and five autonomous universities.

Osmania University

           Osmania university, established in the year 1918, is a state university located in university town, Hyderabad.The university has been accredited by the NAAC with an A+ Grade. The main campus of OU is ranked 10th among the state universities by India Today.

     It is a public state university, it was established by and named after Mir Osman Ali Khan, the 7th Nizam of Hyderabad.It is third oldest university in southern India, and first indian university to have Urudu as a medium of instruction.
     
     The OU university particulary known for its faculty of Engineering and Technology, Law, Arts, Biochemistry, Genetics, Biotechnology, commerce and Management departments.The Osmania Medical College; one of the top Medical schools in the country was once apart of the O.U system.

Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad

         JNTU is a public university, Hyderabad, Telangana. One of the India's leading educational universities focusing on engineering. Founded in 1965 as the Nagarjuna Sagar Engineering Colege, it was established as auniversity in 1972 by the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological Act, 1972. The university is situated at kukatpally Housing Board Region in Hyderabad of India.

This university consists of the constituent and affiliated colleges. The main officers and councils ofthe university are chancellor and vice-chancellor. Kakatiya University

       Kakatiya University is apublic University located in Warangal in the Indian state of Telangana. It was most recently Assessment and Accreditation council of India on 12 september, 2017. The University offers about 120 programs at undergraduate and post graduate levels in the faculties of arts, Science,Commerce and Business management, Social sciences and Pharmaceutical sciences with constituent and affiliated colleges spread over 4 districts of Telangana. The faculties include 248 teaching staff and 622 non teaching staff.

The university has a network of eleven constituent colleges with twenty-eight departments. During 2011-2012, enrollment of students for under-graduate programs was around 90,000 in the 2004-2005 school year, according to the university's own website.

The University also promotes individual and collective research by faculty and scholars.

Aarogya lakshmi Scheme

  Aarogya lakshmi scheme was launched officially on January 1, 2015 by Honourable Cheif Minister Sri K.Chandrashekar Rao. Wishing that Mother and Newborn must be hale and hearty, KCR wanted that the target women must get goverment suppiled nutritional food.

       The nutritional meals are provided at 31,897 anganwadis and 4,076 mini angandawis in the state. All the pregnant and lactating women and children below 6 years are provided nutritional meals.

Double Bedroom Housing Scheme    

      Double bedroom Housing or 2BHK scheme is a housing scheme by the Government of Telangana in Telangana, India.

      The scheme started pilot projects across the state. The application has to be ade either online or Mee Seva or its centres. Hyderabad, the slum are identified, the slum residents are moved out for the comstruction of the site.

  By March 2018, of the 2.72 lakh targeted houses, 9500 were completed, and 1,69,000 houses are in advance stage of completion at a capital outlay of over Rs.18,000 crores.

Kalayana Lakshmi - Shaadi Mubarak

        Shaadi Mubarak is a welfare scheme for providing financial assistance for marriages by the Government of Telangana, a novel scheme for all the poor people in the state.

           The schemes gives an assistance of Rs.1,00,116 and is aimed at preventing Child Marriages and support marriage expenses for financially distressed families. By march 2018, the beneficaries stood at 3,50,000.

Mission Bhagiratha

Mission Bhagiratha is a safe water drinking project for every village and city household in Telangans state, The main aim to provide piped water to 2.32 crore people in 20 lakh household in urban areas and 60 lakhs in rural areas of Telangana.This project ambitious is to supply clean drinking water to all households in the state through water soucred from River Godavari and River Krishna.

The project was launched by the PM of India, Narendra Modi at Komtibanda village, Medak district in Gajwel constituency on August 6, 2016. The other dignitaries were, the CM of state, K.Chandrashekar Rao.

Telangana ku Haritha Haram

           Telangana ku Haritha Haram or Haritha Haram is a largescale tree planating program implemented by the Government of Telangana to increase the amount of Tree in the state from 24% to 33%
       
       The program was launched by Telangana  Chief Minister K.Chandrashekar Rao on 3 july 2015. At village level, Haritha Rakshana Committees were formed to monitor the program under the Charimanship of Gram Sarpanch.

        In the areas outside the existing forest, massive planting activities were to be taken up in areas such as; road-side avenues, river and canals banks, barren hills, tankbunds and foreshore areas.

CHITYALA AILAMMA

      Chityala Aliamma, or Chakali Aliamma was an Indian  Revoluntary leader during the Telangana Rebellion. She married to Chityala Narasaiah and had four sons and one daughter.

She fought against Zamindar Ramachandara Redddy, known as Visnoor Deshmukh, to cultivate her land became inspiration for many people during the Rebellion against fedual lords of Telangana region.
 
          Chityala Aliamma was an activist and joined the Andhra Mahasabha as well as the communist party. She worked actively against Nizam government and her house was centre for conducting these activites against fedual land lords.

KOMARAM BHEEM

         Komaram Bheem was a tribal leader who fought against the Asaf Jahi Dynasty  for the liberation of Hyderabad. He took arms against Nizam Nawab's soldiers, and fought Babi Jhari until his last breath.He openly fought against the ruling Nizam government in a guerrilla campaign.

  Bheem was born into a family of Gond Tribals in the forest of Komaram Bheem district. He was not exposed to outside world and didnot have any formal education.He was barely 15 years his father was killed by forest officials for asserting 'Adivasis' rights.

     He gave the Slogan of " Jal, Jungle, Zameen"(water,forest,land)
it means that the people who live in forests should have rights on all resources of the forest.

KOTHAPALLI  JAYASHANKAR

      Kothapalli jayashankar garu  popularly known as Professor Jayashankar was an Indian academic and Social activist. He has been fighting for separate state since 1952.He was a leading ideology of Telangana movement.

      He was the former Vice-chancellor of Kakatiya University and an activist in the separate state Telanagana movement. Prof. Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University named in honour and memory of Jayashankar, is only the farm university in Telangana which came into being in the event of the Bifurcation from Archaya N.G Ranga Agricultural University.

              He also started in a bus participation in 1952 MULKI AGITATION. Then, in 1962, he was part of acampaign which rocked the region. when he was a student  leader in 1952 at that time he joined in the movement.


KALOJI  NARAYANA  RAO

Kaloji Narayan Rao was popularly known as Kaloji or Kalanna
Kaloji Narayan Rao was popularly known as Kaloji or Kalanna
was an Indian poet, freedom fighter, anti-fascist and political activist of  Telangana.

       He wrote poetry in Telugu, Urdu, Hindi and Marathi languages. In 1992 , he was awarded an honorary doctorate by Kakatiya University.

KONDA  LAXMAN  BAPUJI

    Konda Laxman Bapuji was an Indian freedom fighter who participated in the Telangana Rebellion and Telangana activist.He fought for the statehood of Telangana all his life.

      Bapuji met Mahatma Gandhi in 1941 and inspired by him, he particiated in the Quit india movement also. He also waged battle against the Nizam and the Razaakars during the Telangana armed struggle in 1947-48.

     He participated in 1952 Non-mulki agitation and then, participated to give impetus to the 1969 Telangana Agitation. He was the member of Telangana Sadhana Samithi.

   In 2014, the horticulture university in Hyderabad was named, Sri konda Laxaman Telangana State Horticulture University, by the Government of Telangana in his honor.

TELANGANA MOVEMENT

KCR: The man who revived Telangana movement. K.Chandrashekar Rao Garu CM of state played a major role in this movement. KCR, as he is popularly known among his supporters, almost achieved the goal in 2009 by going on an indefinite fast, forcing the central government to announce that the process for separate state will be initiated. However the coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions forced the centre to put the issue in cold storage.


 

   KCR, a four time member of the Andhra Pradesh assembly, also served as minister in the TDP government. He was elected to the Lok sabha from Karimnagar in 2004 and from Mahabubnagar in 2009.
       KCR is the only person who started alone by floating Telangana Rashtra Samithi(TRS). He also gave the slogan of Self-respect and Self-rule. Though KCR Succeeded in taking the Telangana issue to the centre stage and extracted promises from the congress led UPA government, for some years he failed to achieve his goal.

       He has two children son K.Tarakarama Rao is a member of the assembly and daughter K.kavitha heads Telangana Jagruthi, a cultural group.Though the centre backtracked , the movement for separate state had reached every home in the region. Many protests and suicide of over 900 people forced all parties to come together for acommon goal.

KCR DEEKSHA

  It was around 11 am on November 29 that KCR sat on the hunger strike at Rangadhampally crossroads in Alaganur village near Siddipet, demanding a separate Telangana. As the tension spread over all districts of telangana. KCR was arrested and shifted him from Alaganur to Khammam jail.

      The arrest changed the mood of the people who until then were not serious about the separate state. As news of the arrest spread, students, Singareni workers and government staff came to streets. violent incidents were reported at karimnagar and warangal. To control tensions KCR was shifted to NIMS hospital where he continued his fast.

 STUDENT ROLE IN TELAGANA MOVEMENT

            Since the, Students have proven to be asset to spread the movement across the 10 districts of Telangana and making it a people's movement. And in 2009, it was the students call of 'CHALO ASSEMBLY'  which is forced the TRS leader K chndrashekar Rao to continue with his hunger strike demanding a separate state. Then it has turned into full fledged movement.













Many students were given up their careers for the Telangana. Leaders in the TRS also believe that the movement was largely  sucessful because of the sustained student movement.

It is a major event in telangana movement. In the indiscriminate  police firing, 369 Telangana students were died. They fought alonside Akhila Bharathiya Vidya Parishad (ABVP), and the muslim leaders. Right from the mandal levels, students started joining their hands irrespective of caste or religion and ensure that the movement spread far and wide", he said.

      The most famous temples in Telangana region are Yadagirigutta Temple, Bhadrachalam Temple, Thousand pillar temple, bhadrakali temple and Meenakshi Agasteeshwara swami temple,Gana saraswati temple.


BHADRACHALAM TEMPLE


               Bhadrachalam is a holy place which is in Khammam district of Telangana. It is situated on the banks of River Godavari district.The town is synonymous for its famous temple devoted to Lord Rama. According to history, Paleolithic man had roamed the areas, which is called the lower Godavari valley that includes Bhadrachalam and its surroundings. 
         The town shares its historical significance with Ramayana Era. The name Bhadrachalam is derived from the word Bhadragiri.
The famous temple at Bhadrachalam is home to the Archa Murthy's of Rama, Sita and Lakshamana and their idols are belived to be swayambhu i.e self-manifested ones.

     Parnasala is a village in the Dummugudem mandal in the Khammam district of Telangana India. It is situated from the 32km away from Bhadrachalam. It is also one of the popular villages of AP known for its ancient tales and beliefs.
   This village is famous as the place where Lord Rama stayed with his wife and rother during his 14 year exile. Parnasala, which became a much picnic spot in Bhadrachalam is said to be the place where the evil-minded king Ravan abducted Goddess sita.

YADAGIRIGUTTA

                                   Sri Lakshminarasimha Swamy Temple or Yadagirigutta is a popular holy place in Bhongir and around 60km from the capital city of HYD. It is aunique and pleasant hillock that enjoys moderate climate in all seasons. The CM of the state K. Chandrashekar Rao initiated the renovation of the temple, and approved a final layout.
         The CM asked the roads and Buildings department to develop four-lane roads around the temple.He told the forest department to plant trees. The temple was allocated about Rs.100 crore funds annually by CM of the state.








THOUSAND PILLAR TEMPLE
        
 The Thousand Pillar Temple is a Hindu temple located in the town of Hanamakonda Telangana state, India. It is dedicated to Lord shiva, Vishnu and Surya. Warangal fort and Temple Architecture.
                 The famous Thousand-pillar temple  is one of the best examples of Kakatiya   architecture. It was built by Rudra deva , at the slopes of Hanamakonda  hill and it was dedicated to the Lord shiva, Vishnu, surya.

       Interestingly, it is not dedicated to only one god.There is also a Nandi statue facing the shiva lingam. One can also see Beautiful intricate carvings and sculptures of animals like elephants on the  walls of the temple.     

     GANA SARASWATI TEMPLE, BASARA


       Basara is a holy place which is in Nirmal district of Telangana state. The temple was located on the banks of Godavari river at Basara, Telangana.
       There are two famous saraswati temples in india, the other being in Jammu & kashmir.
saraswati is the Hindu Goddess of Knowledge and learning ceremony called as "AKSHARA ABYASAM " before they start formal school education. The whole atmosphere is very pious and pure.

It is also believed that this temple is one of the three constructed near the confluence of the Manjira and Godavari rivers. Special poojas and celebrations are held at the temple during Maha Shivarathi, beginning 15 days before and continuing 3 days after the festival. Devotees often go to the nearby mountain which has an idol of Goddess saraswati in the sanctum sanctorum.

FAMOUS FESTIVALS

BATHUKUMMA



                 Bathukamma is our state festival.It is one of the major festival celebrated in our state festival with lot of colors and flowers. This is nine days festival During these days people decorates their homes and streets. On this day, people of the state Worship Goddess Gauri, who is known as Bathukamma. Devotees visits nearby temples or street to celebrate this colorful festival.Gauri devi is decorated with different colorful flowers.
COLORFUL FLOWERS 


Bathukumma jathara, which commences two days before dusshera festival, is organised where both festivals are observed .Women,clad in beautiful sarees decorate a small wooden platform in a circular arrangement with layers in order to make a conical arrangement of flowers .
             People worship goddess Bathukumma for nine days and the last day the goddess is immeresd in rivers after completion of rituals. The festivities continue  for nine days ending on a crescendo with the finale, saddula Bathukamma, where five varieties of special Telangana rice dishes made from lemon,coconut,tamarind,sesame are offered to the Goddess.

                                         BONALU

Telangana state's one of the  most famous festival. Bonalu or Mahankali bonalu is a Hindu festival, Goddess Mahankali is worshipped.The word bonam is a corrupation of the word Bhojanam which means a meal or a feast in telugu ,is an offering to Mother Goddess. Bonalu is an annual festival of Telangana celebrated in Twin cities Hyderabad, Secunderabad and other parts of Telangana, India.Special pooja's are performed for Yellamma on the first and last day of the festival.
         women prepare rice cooked with milk and jaggery in a new brass or Earthern pot adorned with Neem leaves, tumeric, vermilion and a lit lamp on the top of the pot.

POTHURAJU:

pothuraju is the brother of Mother goddess, is represented in the procession by a well-built, bare-bodied man, wearing a small tightly draped red dhoti and bells on his ankles, and anointed with tumeric on his body and vermillion on his forehead. He dances to resounding drums.  
He always dances before the palaharam bandi, the procession.He is considered the initiator of   festivities and the protector of the community. He leads the tranced female dancers who are under spell of the mother Goddess to the temple, with lashing whips and emerald neem leaves tied around their waists ,accompained by trumpets and drums.
        

Edupayala Durgamma Temple:

       The temple of Sri Edupayala vana Durga Bhavani is situated close Nagasanpally in Medak dist area of Telangana state. Built in 12th century, Edupayala temple is one of the most famous and powerful temple in Telangana.
      River Manjeera flows as seven streams and they confluence at this place. Dedicated to Goddess Durga, the seven streams of Manjeera river were formed with the ancient sages called Jamadagni, Atri, Kasyapa, Viswamitra, Vasistha, Bharadwaja, Gowtama.

   SIGNIFICANCE:

 Edupayala history was that here seven rivulets meet at apoint from top of the river on the way to the temple in a den where Durgamma idol was seen and thet is the reason it known as edupayala Durgamma.
                  The temple is also famous for jatara , a three -day festival celebrated during Shivarathi in the month of February.
